Detention Training Officer
Gila County Sheriff's Office
Globe, Arizona
I have been with the Gila County Sheriff's Office since November 2007. I am a graduate of the Arizona Detention Association Basic Detention Academy as top cadet. I have served as a disciplinary hearing officer, classification officer, field training officer, grievance officer and court officer. From 2011-2012 I served as a shift sergeant and training sergeant. In 2013 I was appointed to the position of Administrative Sergeant. I was responsible for supervising the other sergeants in the Globe and Payson jail. I was also appointed to the Arizona Detention Association academy development committee. This committee worked to create an academy that could be implemented state wide and was uniform and consistant. I am a graduate of the National Jail Leadership and Command Academy class #17 in 2014. I have taught at several academies across Arizona. In 2015 I left the sheriffs office for 6 months to teach at the local school district but returned to the jail due to my love of this field. I ahve served in several positions since my return but currently am a transport officer, disciplinary officer, and grievance coordinator. I have a passion for solving the mental health crisis in jails and graduated from the Arizona Lead for Change Leadership Fellowship in 2023. I look forward to the future where I will work to make fundamental changes to our profession.
