David Alvarado is a Primary Captain of the Hampden County Sheriff’s Office in Ludlow, Massachusetts. Before being promoted to Primary Captain in February 2008, David worked his way through the various ranks and areas of the Department since his career started in November 1992. David served as a Correctional Officer for seven years prior to being promoted to the rank of Corporal of the Gang Unit. He then went on to serve as the Facility Armorer and Key Control Officer before being promoted to the rank of Sergeant of the Department’s Correctional Alcohol Center. David was then promoted to Lieutenant, and eventually Captain and Primary Captain, of the Special Operations Unit where he spent the next 14 years of his career. During this time he was named the Assistant Commander to the Department’s Tactical Response Team, was a member of the Departments Apprehension Unit and was the lead Defensive Tactics and Firearms Instructor for the Department. David transitioned to a Housing Tower Supervisor for six years prior to returning back to Special Operations where he now oversees all use of force incidents. When not at work, David served as the Head Coach of the Putnam Vocational Technical High School Wrestling Team for 25 years and now serves as the head wrestling Coach and Board Member of the Grit and Gratitude Wrestling Academy in Springfield, MA.
