Susan Laffan, RN, CCHP-RN, CCHP-A has been a State of New Jersey Registered Nurse for over 40 years. Her areas of nursing expertise include, Critical Care, Emergency Department, Correctional Nursing, Critical Care Transportation, and Paramedic. Susan has held the positions of staff nurse, Director of Nursing, and Health Service Administrator in three county jails in NJ. Susan was the founder and co-owner of a business that provided bloodborne pathogen training, Tuberculosis testing, and Hepatitis B vaccinations for police, fire, and first responders for nearly 20 years. Susan presented educational sessions for NCCHC (for over 20 years), NJ State Nurses Association, American Coirrectional Association. Susan was a compliance auditor for ACA, and ICE, and does consulatation reviews and site visits to prepare correctional facilities for upcoming accreditation visits. She has had over 45 articles published related to correctioanl healhtcare, in magazines such as Correct Care, American Jails, Corrections Today, Nursiung Spectrum, and Advance for Nursing. She co-authored a chapterr in ther text" Essentials For Correctional Nursing" and recently authored and published a book entitled, "Emergency Departments, Jails, And Streets". Susan has served on many committees involving correctioanl health care including task force to develope the NCCHC CCHP-Registered Nurse certification, Director and Board member of the Academy of Correctional Health Professionals, The CCHP Board of Trustees, and currently is on the NCCHC CCHP-RN certification committee, and the NCCHC Education committee.Susan provided expert witness reviews and testimony regarding correctional health care for lawyers nation-wide. She has current Academy of Correctional Health Professionals, American Jail Association, and The American Correctional Association. Susan has won awards to include, First Annual Neew Jersey State Nurses Association Forum for Correctional Health Care "Excellence in Correctional Nursing Award", the NCCHC "CCHP Cheerleader Award", and the Academy of Correctional Health Professionals "Margaret Collatt Award".
