Rod Miller founded CRS in 1972 as a nonprofit organization. He co-authored the first jail staffing text for NIC in 1988, and co-authored the 2nd and 3rd Editions. These, and other staffing resources may be downloaded at www.correction.org. Rod has worked on several national initiatives for the National Institute of Justice, the Bureau of Justice Assistance, the National Institute of Corrections, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. These initiatives addressed conditions of confinement, small jails, jail work and industries programs, end-of-life care in jails and prisons, jail planning and design, regional jails, and jail staffing. Rod helped develop jail standards at the state and national level, including the Core Jail Standards. He is the co-author of all 26 editions of the Detention and Corrections Caselaw Catalog.
