David Hackworth, MSM, CCHP, CJM
David’s career in criminal justice and correctional healthcare industries has spanned more than 35 years. David is a former superintendent at the Hampton Roads Regional Jail and chief deputy at the Chesapeake (VA) Sheriff’s Office where he served for 31 years. During his tenure, he was involved in numerous renovation and expansion projects.
David earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Bluefield College and a Master of Science in management from Liberty University. He is a graduate of the 108th session of the Southern Police Institute’s Administrative Officers’ course at the University of Louisville. David holds certifications as a Certified Jail Manger (CJM) with the American Jail Association and Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP) through the National Commission of Correctional Health Care. In 2023, Virginia Governor Gleen Youngkin appointed David to a four-year term on the Virginia Board of Local and Regional Jails.
David joined Moseley Architects in 2022 as its director of justice planning and development for Moseley Architects’ Mid-Atlantic offices. He is also an adjunct instructor at Regent University, teaching criminal justice and administration of justice.
