Description: This workshop will assist attendees in identifying best practices partnering with community-based organizations to assist in the reentry process from the jail to the community. The presentation will discuss concepts of successful reentry to include collaborative comprehensive case planning, defining roles and responsibilities of partners, and developing information sharing protocols. Additionally, the workshop will identify strategies on engagement that consider risk, needs, and responsivity with presentation from Second Chance Act Grantees focused on cultural responsivity and special populations. These grantees will detail how community-based organizations can partner with jails to improve the reentry process and respond to the unique needs of returning citizens.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion the participants will be able to address the complicated needs of marginalized people with behavioral health issues that are justice involved through collaborative comprehensive case plans in reentry.
Upon completion the participants will learn how to advance equity by addressing risk, need, and responsivity factors including culture, gender, and age for people in reentry.
Upon completion the participants will understand the importance of collaborating with diverse community partners to ensure continuity of care for the underserved populations of people that are reentering the community.
Upon completion the participants will understand how to integrate equity principles into the different priorities of criminal justice, behavioral health, and community-based partners and how to cooperate for shared outcomes.
Upon completion the participants will learn the purpose of collecting critical data to evaluate reentry outcomes and information sharing protocols amongst stakeholders to decrease racial disparities.
